My name is Joana. I am a physician in a central hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. My interest in visual arts started in childhood. I grew up surrounded by paints, brushes, and colors.
Later, I become interested in Biology and the way the world looks from a microscope lens perspective. Since then, it has been my primary source of inspiration, which led to my early participation in some painting exhibitions, mainly with oil on canvas works.
In 2018, I launched the “Mikiki Illustrations” project inspired by science, especially Biology, with illustrations made in acrylic on paper and digital artwork, available in several items through the Redbubble and Society6 web platforms.
For me, it is the best way to show people the aesthetic potential of the science world and how fascinating and beautiful it is.
